What is the TGLS Direct exam?

It is a short exam that tests all language skills in an accessible way for the candidate. The exam is available at all levels of difficulty: A1 – C2 and conducted in the form of a paper-based test.

Designed to be accessible by its form and duration , even to participants who have just started learning a foreign language.

All parts of the exam emphasize practical communication skills in a foreign language.

The TGLS DIRECT exam tests one at a time:

Listening comprehension (duration: 15 minutes at all levels),
reading comprehension with elements of linguistic correctness (duration: 15 minutes at levels A1-A2 and B1 - B2, 35 minutes at levels C1 - C2),
written communication (duration: 15 minutes at A1 and A2 levels, 20 minutes at B1-B2 levels, 30 minutes at C1-C2 levels),
oral communication (duration: about 10 minutes at A1 and A2 levels, 15 minutes at B1-C2 levels).

The TGLS DIRECT exam is in a paper exam packet on which participants can take notes, while all answers they choose must be transferred to the answer sheet within the allotted time. Only the answers included on the answer sheet will be graded.

Results

The candidate receives a score corresponding to the level of proficiency according to the Council of Europe’s CEFR scale of language competence. The information provided on the certificate is both a total score for all competencies on the CEFR scale and a graphical representation of the level on the CEFR scale for each proficiency.

The results obtained are presented in the following forms:

graphically - the result divided into components, is presented in the form of a graph, which includes information on the achievement of the percentage score of achievement of the level in each language skill,
informative - presenting the overall score of the level of linguistic competence obtained in the exam and the level obtained in each of the separate proficiencies. Levels are indicated from A1 to C2 according to the Council of Europe's CEFR scale of language competence.

Certificate

Certificates are sent to the registration institution for the exam In a period of about 2 weeks from the date of receipt of the exam for evaluation .

What to keep in mind

TGLS exams can only be taken at licensed TGLS Examination Centers. Currently, there are nearly 90 actively operating exam centers.

In order for the exam to properly begin, candidates must meet the following guidelines:

arrive at the venue 10-15 minutes before the exam start time so that the Coordinator can check the identity of the candidates and the attendance list;
carry a valid photo ID; if the examinee does not have an ID card, a driver's license, passport or student/student ID card is acceptable. In the absence of a photo ID document proving the identity of the examinee, he/she may not take the exam;
Entering the hall, sign the attendance list and head to the position indicated by the Coordinator;
become familiar with and accept the rules and regulations applicable to TGLS exams;
lateness is allowed in exceptional cases, after prior contact with the Examination Center;
leaving the examination room by the candidate during the exam is possible only with the permission of the Examination Coordinator.

Result table

The pass rate ceiling for a given level of the exam is the achievement of 60% of the 4 parts of the exam. On the other hand, if the total average score oscillates between 50-59% with the additional condition of achieving min. 60% from the writing and speaking parts (productive parts), the exam will be considered passed at the level the candidate took.
